Yufuin and Beppu are reachable from Fukuoka in a day, but the drive across the Oita mountains runs roughly two to two and a half hours in each direction, so the day is mostly a question of pacing. Fitting in Kinrin Lake, the Yunotsubo street, lunch, and the Beppu hells usually means choosing two of them to linger over rather than all four. A private car keeps the schedule flexible when mountain weather or midday crowds change the picture.

- In winter, allow extra time for snow or fog on the mountain roads and expect the return leg to run later.
- If you are continuing to an onsen ryokan afterwards, tell us about luggage and the drop-off point so the route can end there instead of in Fukuoka.

How many passengers fit?
We recommend one Toyota Alphard for 1 to 6 passengers, one standard Toyota Hiace for 7 to 9, one 14-seat Toyota Hiace for 10 to 13 (13 passengers plus the driver), one Alphard plus one standard Hiace for 14 to 15, and two standard Hiace vehicles for 16 to 18. For 19 or more passengers, we arrange a custom vehicle combination on WhatsApp. Public single-vehicle reference fares do not apply to groups of 10 or more; we confirm the total price on WhatsApp. Luggage details are optional trip context and do not change the automatic recommendation.
